Arduino Coaching Techniques - M2M Coaching
Yesterday, a workshop on techincal coaching techniques was held in Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Tun Abdul Razak (InSTAR). This workshop was initiated by their supportive teacher, Cikgu Nadzrah (SBP InStar), who identified volunteers among her PT3 students to coach their friends, fresh newcomers in Arduino community. These PT3 students will then be hosting a mentoring session to the students of SBPi Kuantan on October 23rd, 2017.
In this workshop, the students were trained on how to 'introduce' coding concept to beginners in computer programming. In general, basic coding techniques should cover sequential and conditional instructions as well as the programming concept of the input and output characteristics - both the analog and digital. Also shared during the session is the best practices in mentoring such as consistently posing questions to invoke participantions among the trainees. A trainer should always make use of the feedbacks given by the trainees and adjust his/her pace of delivery, so as to achieve the optimum outcomes.
During the workshop, 10 sets of Arduinos kits, LCDs and sensors (ultrasonic, motion, PIR) were loaned. This kits will be used in a peer to peer coaching between SBPI InStar and SBPI Kuantan. Also shared is our 1-day Arduino introductory module that will be used in the 'peer to peer' coaching sessions later.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cikgu Nadzrah for her creative efforts in expanding the maker community among school children in Pahang. Also, a sincere thank to all the PT3 students who volunteer to peer coached their friends. Also a heartiest thank to Dr Rizal, Riduwan and Suliana for the module and workshop content.
