10th National Technical Seminar on Underwater System Technology 2018 (NUSYS’18)
The 10th National Technical Seminar on Underwater System Technology 2018 (NUSYS’15) was organized by Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang on the 26-27 September 2018 at the Library, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Pekan Campus, Pahang, Malaysia. For this year, “Deeper Discoveries” was selected as the NUSYS’18 theme. NUSYS’18 was jointly organized by IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE-OES) Malaysia Chapter, Malaysian Society for Automatic Control Engineers (MACE) IFAC NMO and Institute of Engineer Malaysia (IEM) Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture Technical Division (MNATD).
Hundreds of attendees, paper presenters, keynote and participants from universities and industries in Malaysia have benefited in many ways from this seminar. Three keynote speakers from universities and industry addressed to audience and shared knowledge and rich experience of underwater technology and marine in their research and company. 57 papers were presented by authors in Technical Sessions that divided into four Parallel Sessions. The papers had been classified into the following four categories:
- Underwater Technology and Marine
- Applied Electronics and Computer Engineering
- Control, Instrumentations & Artificial Intelligent Systems
- Sustainable Energy & Power Electronics
All accepted and presented papers will be published in Lecture Notes Electrical Engineering - Springer (index by Ei and Scopus).
The objectives of the seminar are threefold;
- To accommodate a medium to discuss a wide range of underwater system technology between universities and industries.
- To disseminate the latest technology in the field of underwater engineering
- To provide an opportunity for researchers to present their paper in electrical & electronics engineering and underwater system technology area.
The first day of seminar started with welcoming speech by Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Rizal Arshad, Chairman of IEEE-OES Malaysia Chapter and officiated by the Deputy Dean (Academic) Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamdan Daniyal. The 1st keynote speaker address by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aidy @ Mohamed Shawal M. Muslim, the Director of Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, entitled “Exploring Application of Remote Sensing in Underwater Mapping”, followed by Parallel Sessions I.
The 2nd keynotes speaker address by Mr. Mirza Iryawan Hamza, Technical Director of Temasek Hidroteknik Sdn. Bhd. (Survey Division) & Temasek Allied Engineering (Instrumentation Division) was conducted in the afternoon sessions entitled “Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) for Coastal Hydrographic Surveys” and followed by Parallel Sessions II.
On the second day, the seminar started with Parallel Sessions III and followed by the 3rd keynotes speaker address by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Farid Muhamad Said, Senior Lecturer at Department of Aeronautic, Automotive & Ocean Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia entitled “Development of an ROV: Antarctic Expedition and Underwater Observation for Industry Application”. The seminar ended with Parallel Sessions IV and finished at 1.00 afternoons.
See you again next year in NUSYS’19.
